Day 1. Galway Suggestion
This fly-drive vacation will allow you to discover the beautiful west coast of Ireland. You will land at Shannon Airport and pick up your rental car that you will have for the duration of your adventure. You will definitely want to explore the eclectic city of Galway where you will find the stunning St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church and the Galway Cathedral. While in Galway you are going to want to check out the famous Connemara National Park. You can easily spend an entire day here exploring the scenic woodlands. Visit the Kylemore Abbey for a bit of history. The town of Connemara is a quaint town filled with shops and boutiques that you can find authentic Irish souvenirs for your family and friends back home!
Day 2. Cliffs of Moher Suggestion
Continue your exploration of the Wild Atlantic Way by taking the drive to the legendary Cliffs of Moher for some impressive views of the Galway Bay. If you are coming from Galway you will be about an hour away. The Cliffs are an iconic site you will not want to miss!
Day 3. County Clare Suggestion
County Clare is not only home to the Cliffs of Moher but you can find the Burren, the Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and the Aillwee Caves. This is a great destination to spend a couple of days.
Day 4. Limerick Suggestion
Limerick is another west coast city that is a must-see and is home to the legendary Treaty Stone. The city of Limerick is a good place to stop for lunch and spend the afternoon browsing the local shops. King John's Castle is also here and offers a great tour, perfect for children and adults alike!
Day 5. Killarney, Kinsale and Cork Suggestion
From Limerick you can easily decide to head north or south. Going south means you will find yourself in Killarney, Kinsale and Cork. These are beautiful cities that have numerous attractions to explore. In Cork you will find the Blarney Castle and Stone. This is such an iconic landmark in Ireland; tourists from all over the world come to kiss the Blarney Stone. Legend has it that if you kiss the stone you will acquire the gift of eloquence or persuasion.
Day 6. Sligo, Donegal and Derry Suggestion
If you head north you will reach the towns of Sligo, Donegal and Derry. In Derry you will be able to walk around the city and explore as much as you’d like. Be sure to check out the Derry City Walls which are full of history. Another piece of Derry history to visit is the Bloody Sunday Memorial. On your way to Derry you will pass through Sligo, an especially artistic city. You can spend a few hours visiting art galleries and museums including the Sligo Art Gallery, the Yeats Memorial and the Niland Gallery.
Day 7. Depart Ireland!
Today you will depart Ireland from Shannon Airport. Drop your rental car off at the airport before your flight.
