Enjoy a trip along what was voted one of the world’s five most spectacular drives – The Causeway Coastal Route. Enjoy the first stop of the day at Carrickfergus Castle, before traveling onward to the world famous Carrick-a-rede Ropebridge. The bravest souls can make the terrifying trip across the bridge that was originally erected by salmon fishermen (weather permitting), or for those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on land, take one of the exhilarating walks and enjoy the stunning views.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to Giant’s Causeway, Irelands only World Heritage Site. Spend some time climbing over the ancient stones, snapping some photos, and enjoying the myths and legends that surround this world-famous attraction. Then re-board the luxury coach as you make your way to along the coast for one last short stop at the ancient ruins of Dunluce Castle. Please make sure you arrive 30 minutes before the allocated time and make yourself known to staff.
Please Note: It is free to visit the stones at the Giant's Causeway and to visit Carrick-a-Rede Ropebridge, however, a National Trust fee applies for anyone who wants to cross the Ropebridge or to enter the Visitor Centre at the Giant's Causeway (fees to be paid on the spot). There is some walking on what are sometimes uneven surfaces during this tour (particularly at Carrick-a-rede Ropebridge), and it requires moderate fitness levels for those who wish to cross the bridge or walk from the Causeway stones back to the coach.
Day 5. Belfast - Dublin
Take the Irish Rail back to Ireland's capital city today. Explore the literary gems of the city; the illuminated manuscript the Book of Kells is a must-see. You may recognize Trinity College's iconic Long Room, which has served as inspiration for many film sets.
Head to the courtyard of Dublin Castle, where you'll find the Chester Beatty Library - a museum dedicated to the art of the written words with permanent and rotating collections sure to satisfy any bibliophile.
In the evening head to the Temple Bar district to experience its famed nightlife; treat yourself to a pint of Guinness at a local pub (preferably one offering live music) - the perfect way to celebrate your last night in Ireland.
